Bunco is a dice game played with twelve or more players, divided into groups of four, who score points by rolling three dice across six rounds.
Here’s how the game works:
* Each of the six rounds is numbered one through six.
* Players take turns rolling three dice, earning one point for each die that matches the current round number.
* Rolling three-of-a-kind earns points as follows:
* 5 points if the dice match each other but not the round number.
* 21 points (a "bunco") if all three dice match the round number.
* If a player scores any points, they roll again and keep adding to their score. If no points are scored, their turn ends, and the dice pass to the next player.
* A round ends when a player reaches 21 points, making a bunco an instant win.
* The game concludes after all six rounds. The player who wins the most rounds is the overall winner, with ties broken by total points.
In larger tournaments, teams of two compete at multiple tables simultaneously. The highest-ranked table is often called the "head table" or "queen's table." After each round, the winning team moves to the next-highest-ranked table, while the losing team at the head table moves to the lowest-ranked table.
